In a world where money makes it go ’round, it’s tough to not give it some sort of power. I mean, how can we not? We need money for virtually everything! And if you’re a boss babe, you know money motivates you just a little 😉
But do we give money too much power over our lives? After discussing this in the May Cause Miracles course I’m teaching, it got me thinking. How much power do we actually give to money in our lives?
A lot. That’s how much. So much that, we can’t see past having it or not having it. There are only two ways we seem to operate in. Lack of money and momentary abundance. As soon as the abundance is over we’re back to lack. Does it have to be over? Can we not see money as a renewable resource that comes to us when we need it? Sounds too woo-woo… I know, I get it.
How can we take our power back from money?
Afterall, as Kate Northrup says in her book, Money, A Love Story, money is not real. It’s a digital currency that we see as power. That we see as the lifeblood of all things necessary. On the contrary then, and seemingly more resonating, it brings to mind one of my favorite quotes by Zig Ziglar, ” Money isn’t everything, but it’s right up there with oxygen.” Which thought do you resonate with more? So the question is, where is the happy medium?
It’s right where it needs to be. In a place of alignment with your true desired feelings. Have you heard of the Desire Map by Danielle Laporte? I love the concept. That our goals should be based on the feeling we want to achieve, not the actual goal itself. So if we want more money, can we take ourselves to a place where we can experience the feeling of what this money will bring us?
Imagine the feeling of lightness, freedom from worry and that there isn’t a care in the world. Imagine a time in your life when you felt that way. You might have to think long and hard, but it could be any situation that made you feel safe, empowered and happy. Perhaps it’s in a favorite daydream where you wake up in your beach house, with the view of the ocean and as you check your email, find your weekly deposit of $111k. Can you picture it? Safety, security and not a care in the world of money and whether it has your back or not. It’s a non-issue.
When we can be in a place of alignment, a place where we function from our core desired feelings, we take back our fear and our power from money. Money doesn’t have to be tough to come by. Stop telling yourself that it is. Watch your self-talk on a daily basis and see how you catch yourself saying things in lack or scarcity. Lets’ be real, we all do it.
The first step in taking your power back is recognizing that you’ve given it away. Maybe it’s in a situation that you can change, or to a person. Maybe your fear of finances has made you phobic of monetary responsibility. Take account of where you’ve lost your money mojo along the way and claim it back!
Action steps: Write out your money story and see where the limiting beliefs have you stuck in the wrong story. If I know you, Boss Babe, you belong in the story that ends with checking a weekly email deposit for $111k! Am I right or am I right? I mean, can you see that account balance?? Whoa Nelly.
When a woman steps fully into her power, there’s no stopping her. Here’s to a better money story and feeling powerful again.
I’m cheering you on every step of the way!
In love and light always,
