This is one question I see being posted in Facebook groups everywhere. Do coaches need to be certified? The answer today is no. It may become possible that there may be a mandatory certification process, however today there is none. Let me tell you why you may not need to and why some may want to.
I know many coaches that have a myriad of certifications and totally suck as coaches. I mean not only do they charge an arm and a leg ( more on that later) but their clients aren’t making any leeway. No success means no work was being done. Sometimes that’s on the client, but sometimes that’s on the coach. Don’t be the latter.
In my opinion, it comes to a few things. First off, posture. Sometimes having certifications brings a better posture and knowledge base as well as structure. But not all courses offer that. There are so many facets to what one can coach on, I’d say a better term is consulting. Really, you’re consulting on an area of your own expertise. Be it with divorce, relationships, money or business.
Your experience is your teacher. As long as you’ve learned your lessons! You must have learned ways to deal with the issues that come up and have tools or processes that you can stand by. If you’re a new coach then the biggest testimony should be your own! It’s great if you’re inspired by wanting to help others, but let’s be real about the fact that people will be paying you for your own results if not the many that you’ve helped. Honor that.
There are many courses out there, I’d say if you feel called to take one or two, try to find testimonies on them. Knowing someone that’s taken the course helps so much rather than just reading testimonials. When I took Spirit Junkie Masterclass, it changed my life, but I wouldn’t have taken it without seeing how it helped people I know.
I loved this course offered by Gabby Bernstein as I had been following her for many years prior. I knew anything she had to offer would be stellar and I was right! The transformation from who I was a year ago is nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend checking out her course as it’s only open until Thursday, June 21 and then it closes for a year! I’m also offering $1800 worth of free brand flow coaching with it so check out this link to sign up!
On charging an arm and a leg, I believe that you should charge what you are worth. I’m finding more and more coaches forgetting that there needs to be something backing that up. That the client is spending hard earned money (even if it’s not hard earned), so there needs to be enough value. When there is more than enough value in your teaching, then there is no question about the price. But when coaches just randomly charge ridiculous rates and don’t even back it up with true value and support, I feel it cheapens this amazing profession. Know your stuff, and have deliverables that you can count on giving your client. Let’s stop the fluff and serve.
So there it is, my take is you don’t need to be certified, but should have the know-how to create change and transformation in your clients. The results speak for themselves! Not only that, but your need for creating an impact will catapult you to the right place. Your passion will take you far!
Keep striving for greatness boss lady and remember to check out the Spirit Junkie Masterclass if you are looking for an amazing course to transform your life!
In love and light always,
